Thursday, July 08, 2004 AD Annoying Banner Ads 3 In the past few days at least half of the ads have been for an online dating service called True. (In fact, I've just refreshed the screen about a dozen times and gotten one of True's ads every time. If they've bought out all the Sitemeter advertising, that could put a damper on my annoying ad series!) True promises to screen out married people, felons and freaks, and to find someone "right for you." How much you wanna bet that 99.9999% of people who use a service like this would bristle like a herd of hedgehogs if you suggested that maybe parents should take the lead in that whole process of screening and compatibility testing?
